Questions for the community document

Potential off-the-top-of-my-head ideas for workshop activities:

  1. Some kind of card sorting exercise. We give folks generic content that might get linked to from various bits of the navigation, and they sort that content into groups and label them.
  2. Giving users a big ol' collection of items that might appear in navigation ("GOV.UK logo", "Service logo", "Menu", "Search Bar", "Page title/link", "sign in button", "sign out button", etc) and get them to group and order in terms of importance.
  3. "What's missing?": present users with a really basic example of a navigation (how basic?), ask them to jot down what's missing that they need.

If we present participants with some kind of proto-design, we may need to present them several rather than a single one. They can indicate preference, pick things from one that are missing from another, etc.

We are interested in figuring out whether it would be useful to iterate how the GOV.UK brand/ logo is presented on service and product domains (the current branding is very prominent, could we scale it back?)

For the second Q, it might be good to get some GOV.UK designers into the workshop as they have a view on how the branding will change in the coming months

Space/tool for workshop will be a combination of this Google Doc (for the warmer and Exercise 1) and this Padlet board (for Exercise 2).

We should use a version of this retro board for consistency with previous events.
