Project board - https://github.com/alphagov/verify-local-patterns/projects/1 ||||| This is a prototype of some content that will be included in the GOV.UK Service Toolkit about the best practice for councils to deliver two services - parking permits and concessionary travel. The repo also includes a working prototype of both services which follows the guidance, as delivered by the fictional council of Argleton.

Charges info Content fix: bring the copy re charges above the radio buttons & consider rewording, as it's only credit cards that are associated with incurring charges:

Direct Debit This has always read oddly. @EUzkuraityte @sanjaypoyzer is there a reason why we can't put:

"Direct payment from your bank account"

Or is this option about setting up a Direct Debit to facilitate easy renewals payments?

Tell me earlier How many users mentioned this? I think this page and point in the journey is the correct place for payment choices. It's to be expected that you'll pay with a credit or debit card in an online transaction, and users are also given a second choice.

EUzkuraityte commented 7 years ago

@lizziebruce I think the DD route is about making recurring payments easier, though I can't remember anyone choosing this route anyway to be honest..

sanjaypoyzer commented 7 years ago

DD is not for recurring, it's for people who don't have a card

EUzkuraityte commented 7 years ago

hm... we'd need to clarify that in the description!

lizziebruce commented 7 years ago

This brings it back to my point above, is there a reason why we can't put:

"Direct payment from your bank account"

This sounds like a bank transfer rather than a DD, which is for recurring payments no?

EUzkuraityte commented 7 years ago

Hm, I assume DD can be used in a recurring way or a one off. The new copy looks good, but probs would want to clarify that it's a one off payment, if you think it's needed

lizziebruce commented 7 years ago

Direct, one-off payment from your bank account

DDs may be for one-off payments as well as reoccurring but I think like me most of the public associate DD with recurring. New copy here is a bit of a halfway house but could mitigate confusion as we can't get into a long explanation on radio buttons.. I can enter some more explanation that it's one off on the DD payment page.

Let's see how this tests?

image @lizziebruce evidence from Sunderland user testing indicates that this could be explained further, as there seems to be some confusion about the available options

joanneSouthern commented 7 years ago

This was apparent in user testing last week at Northumberland also, users didnt understand why there were two options

lizziebruce commented 7 years ago

@EUzkuraityte @sanjaypoyzer can we just call the second option a bank transfer? E.g.

"Transfer payment amount directly from your bank account"

Or

"Bank transfer"

lizziebruce commented 7 years ago

@EUzkuraityte @sanjaypoyzer I didn't get both of your thumbs up for this before I went on leave so this didn't make it on to the prototype for Tuesday's user testing.

Not sure why it's in 'recent changes have been made' as it went back to being an issue after the last changes didn't test well.

EUzkuraityte commented 7 years ago

@lizziebruce thanks for pointing this out, will move this back to doing!
