Installation and MELPA #5

It is not really a issue, but a suggestion of putting this package in MELPA, and writing better instructions on how to install it in emacs init.el Also, how to export a Greek Bible passage into a PDF file? Have some example? Thx for this really useful tool...

Do you know Bibledit for translating the Bible from one language to another? Especially from Greek/Hebrew into another one. But, since emacs does not have this capacity, I have asked the Bibledit team to add this feature there. https://github.com/postiffm/bibledit-desktop/issues It would be great to have an emacs package to integrate/glue the two apps. An emacs-lisp wizard can, probably do that... Sigh!

Anyway, If you have time, please check that tool out and the videos. In debian they are in the repos:

I might submit it to MELPA someday. Installation instructions would be a good idea.

Also, how to export a Greek Bible passage into a PDF file?

That's a pretty broad question. There are many ways to do that on a computer. You could do something as simple as viewing the passage in a web browser and "printing" to a PDF. In Emacs, you could use the SBLGNT Sword module with this package and export the Org file to PDF.

Do you know Bibledit for translating the Bible from one language to another?

I haven't used that tool before. ISTR some kind of Emacs-based tool for aiding text translation, but I don't remember the details.

Please, try it. It can be used as a local application or online tools and have collaborative useful feature. That's my dream that someone could integrate it to emacs.

I know that there are general translation packages for emacs, but not specifically for Bible translation, which mostly uses UFSM markup language for this specific job... That's is the reason of my request...

It's easy to install simple packages like this without MELPA. Just put the .el file in a directory in your load-path. Or you can use something like quelpa, which makes it easy to install directly from a git repo. You can see an example in the installation instructions here: https://github.com/alphapapa/matrix-client.el

Just select the SBLGNT Sword module to import the GNT. Then export the part you want to PDF with Org Export.

I'm not currently doing Bible translation, but maybe I will look at it in the future.

If Bibledit is designed to be an all-in-one translation tool, where would Emacs come in? Maybe what you are wanting is an Emacs package that replicates Bibledit functionality. That would probably be a lot of work, and it would be a separate project from Bibledit.

One could probably write an Org Export backend that exports to UFSM with applicable markup and metadata. That would probably be much less work than replicating Bibledit inside Emacs, while allowing the use of the Org file format and Org-related tools to do the work.
