it looks like the issue is that we just take the first sense from the lexicon, "single" for the short definition and it would probably be better to extend this to e.g. "single, simple straightforward".

It's not about the sense, it's about the degree of comparison of the adjective, which should be presented in the form definition. Like you do in similar cases:

Regarding the comparative, the parser reports this form differently (as an irregular comparative), which we weren't catching. We'll put that fix on the list for an upcoming release. Thank you!
ἁπλόος is single, simple, straightforward in LSJ and middle-liddel
However in Major+LSJ and LSJ it's twofold. Did you want to update these lexicon too? see below
Definitely "twofold (διπλόος)", given in the LSJ article just as opposite to "ἁπλόος", should be removed from "ἁπλόος" short definition.
I've updated this short def everywhere now.
