Google BookSearch Android compatible Sample code

I would like to make queries to the BookSearch API, but I can't find any 
compatible sample which works for Android. The "full" API compiles, but is not 
compatible, so I am trying google-api-java-client.
I believe that queries can be posted without authentication, so this may be a 
relatively short sample to write.

Please provide some example(s).
