it looks like in both the iTerm2 an Xresources configuration, "background" and "color0" (black) are not the same (base03 and base02 respectively). The problem with this is that for me, in vim, the color behind the text and the rest of the background don't match. It seems that this is because something in the vim color configuration is using "black" where it should be using "background"
