Discussed with Luke, he will provide new/modified behavior proposal today.
Propose to disable bookend feature for May 1-2 incremental release.
I think this is a major issue.
If you look at current implementation when viewing "United States" timeline, it appears that we created the start time as "1808".
But if you move the mouse tracker to the start of the timeline, then you see the timeline is actually 1776
So the original purpose of bookends which is to clearly communicate the start and end time being viewed, has failed.
Due to padding of bookend feature, it can cause confusion on the start and end date of a timeline.
But the actual start and end of timeline is 1847 to 1931. So it can cause confusion to the user what the start and end date is.
