Multiple issues in ios 16.0 #1057

  1. I can't sideload apps. When I try to install them, they get stuck and can't go any further. One gets stuck at around 95% and one gets stuck at 25%. I've tried this at least 7 times and it's happened all 7 times.
  2. When I try to close out of AltStore after failing to install an app and reopen it, I get a popup saying "Altstore" is no longer available, even though I just installed/refreshed it a few minutes ago. Altserver is also fully updated. Then for some reason I can't install Altstore from Altserver unless I restart Altserver on my computer. But this problem happens again after failing to install an app.

These problems did not occur in ios 15.6. My device is the SE 3 (2022). I have it connected via cable and I have iTunes set to sync via wifi. If you could please help, it would be much appreciated.

Hi @ToughPapaya

To get the AltStore working on my iPhone after upgrading to iOS 16, the following steps worked for me::

  1. Removing all sideloaded apps
  2. Connecting my phone via lightning
  3. Updating the software on my MacBook (got a Software update is required to connect to your iOS device notification). If you are using Windows, check if there are any updates for iTunes
  4. After unlocking the phone it asked me again if I trusted this computer, I agreed
  5. After these preparations, I installed AltStore as described in the instruction
  6. As I started AltStore on my phone, I got a message that developer mode was not enabled. To turn it on you can use this instruction or the video guide.

Hi @zisen813

  1. I always remove sideloaded apps before installing apps.
  2. I always connect my phone via lightning
  3. I updated iTunes
  4. My phone did not ask me again if I trust this computer.
  5. Yes, I installed AltStore according to instructions.
  6. I already had developer mode enabled.

Do you have any more recommendations?

Note: I found something interesting. AppStore lists App IDs that are 6 days old, as in they were from yesterday when I tried to install the app. So the app I tried to install managed to install the app IDs without fully installing. Does this mean every time I try to install the app again, it will fail? But this also doesn't explain my phone saying AppStore isn't installed the same day that I installed it.

While on iOS 16 + iPhone 13 Pro, I had no problem updating the AltStore app itself but I am unable to update uYouPlus. Tried multiple times. Rebooted both the PC and the phone several times. Not willing to remove existing sideloaded uYouPlus (shouldn’t have to) for fear of losing this app.

2020 iPad Pro on iOS 15.7 has no issues.

It started working for me after I did the following:

Note - running latest betas of AltStore/AltServer. Also running latest iTunes/iCloud on Windows 11 VM.

Update: I'm having the issue again on the day that I have to refresh altstore. I removed all sideloaded apps and tried to install one. It got stuck in the installation process and I got the "Altstore is no longer available" when I tried to close and reopen Altstore. I deleted altstore fully and reinstalled it and I still can't install apps. So this fix no longer works. I am running ios 16.0.2.

What helped me was to kill AltServer processes on Windows. For some reason AltServer was opening multiple times.

Unfortunately I tried that many times and it didn't work.
