Multiple device support #26

I noticed that when I try to install AltStore on more than 1 device it gives me a notice that installing on a second device will make the AltStore on the first one unusable. Can we please get a multiple device support?

That were great. And maybe multiple Apple IDs. I have two Apple IDs fpr two devices. One for my iPhone and the second for my iPad. Were nice if i can handle the two Apple IDs and say, first ID it for iPhone and second ID is for iPad.

I have the same Apple ID on iPhone and iPad and I am able to refresh despite the warning. This occurs when I tether the iPad directly to the Mac running AltServer. I'm not sure if this is intentional or not.

Correction: the latest updates to AltStore have broken this workaround

Presume this is still non functioning?

It’s the only thing preventing me from using altstore as I have two devices to maintain.

Just thought I'd add, I also have this issue. Just added my iPad and it's broken the iPhone refresh.

Next time a refresh is due I will try using an different Apple ID on the iPhone and see if the iPad still works or if this still breaks it.

This is planned for a future update. In the time being, you can use multiple, separate Apple IDs to run AltStore on multiple devices.

I’ve been doing this for months without issue

How are you doing it if it disables the other device ? I have 2 separate Apple ID for my iPhone and iPad and still says will disable other device

It says that it will, but you can refresh on both devices over wifi without changing any settings on your computer.

I’ve tried that but it always says canno t connect to the alt server ! Is there a setting I need to do ? Thanks fir your help .

tmm1030 commented 4 years ago

That’s just on one device . My iPhone !

noah978 commented 4 years ago

@tmm1030 Please refer to the FAQ for issues with "cannot connect to AltServer." Additionally, the topic here is multi-device support, you appear to be having a general issue with AltServer. Make sure that your device has iTunes Wifi Sync enabled. Otherwise, I'd recommend searching the r/Delta_Emulator subreddit for common troubleshooting help.

This still causes a mess in both installations, a revocation party if you want to have apps installed and updated in both devices. Even though AltStore app still works, if you try to update apps on the older installation, it starts complaining. First with an unable to find existing signing certificate, then with a failed to refresh, could not find this device... It would be nice if this issue is fixed or maybe improved a bit.

What are the current challenges in getting this working?

This doesn't work for paid developer accounts.
