Hey there @NordGeit ,
Thanks for making this Github Issue -- I think you've got quite a few great ideas here, and I'm sure our visions for this controller align in a variety of ways. However, currently this project (from my end) is kind of on a bit of a temporary hiatus as I've been making some employment transitions. I may pick up on this later, but in the meantime, I give you my blessing to take what I've got here and make whatever you'd like of it!
That all being said, if you do have specific questions or anything, I'd be more than happy to provide advice during my spare time. I'd love to see what people make of these ideas I've sorta mind-dumped into this repo.
I'll have to give your pull request a check-over to see what you've done on your end -- it'll be interesting to see what you've done in the meantime. However, please don't expect too many consistent check-ups on this repo! My new work schedule is rather involved and I'm a lot more busy than I was earlier when I was making consistent updates here. That being said, I'm still very interested to see what sort of ideas may come for things like SteamVR and Lighthouse tracked controllers, especially in the open source world.
Thanks again!
They exist. They work. From what I can see, however, they only have an USB-C connection. This is because etee's controllers also work without trackers (you can take trackers off) as a 3DOF finger tracking solution, but also, another thing is that they can also be used with other trackers. If it weren't for the finger tracking meme and general difficulty I had with using these, I'd use them already. But I still long for a more "normal" controller that's not the wands or pimax swords. Unfortunately, Index Knuckles are a rarity in my country because valve is stinky and won't sell to Norway. So, this question is more of a "can I save costs by influencing the project to try to use the more universal USB connection/figure out how the dickens TG0 did it" From what I see, and from what I remember (psst, you can always ask me to test using the stuff I have, so long as it doesn't include disassembling anything! I also have an unused 2018 Vive Tracker and a Vive Pro Wireless setup), the controller part is connected separately from the trackers... Through the same dongle.
My mission that led me to this repo was to be able to have basic controllers that connect, are recognized by, and work with, SteamVR, then just strap on the trackers and play with moderately more comfortable controllers. If our missions are aligned, and if you have any questions you think I could help with, do ask.
I also have a soldering iron, but I have so far been unsuccessful in any attempts at soldering, so I'm also a good test dummy on ease of assembly on the soldering end :P
In the future I might be able to spare the cash to buy the actual adapter and a Tundra tracker, so we can get a proper look at how that system works. Anything more said and this becomes too much to read in one go, I gather.
