This depends on whether it's needed to disambiguate between "I will send msid when I have an msid to send" and "I don't know what msid is, and I will never send it".

Martin Thomson argues we should remove it.

In mmusic mailing list discussions on March 31, Magnus Westerlund also spoke in favor of removing it.
