Consistently low FPS on Linux #2343

Open Arr4y opened 2 months ago

Arr4y commented 2 months ago

Description

When playing any VR game on Linux, the FPS is constantly between 30-40FPS. And any framerate below 30FPS causes the game to shake or lag behind when moving my head around too much. 20.10.0 fixed most of the head-jitter issue.

On Windows, I get varying FPS in VR ranging from 30-100FPS. I play a lot of VRChat with friends and going from world to world ranges from this. But on ALVR on Linux, no matter the world in VRChat and even switching to another game in VR gives me that consistent 30-40FPS no matter what settings I change.

What fps settings do you have set in alvr? Can you post the stats page when running?

Can confirm, I have the same issue, VRChat hovers around 36fps no matter what. ALVR framerate is set to 72hz (Quest 1) and the SteamVR void appears to run at the correct framerate, however the menu is a little laggy.

VTOL VR reports about 1/2 the FPS on Linux than what it does on windows. Performance seems comparable. Might just be a FPS reporting issue with Linux?
