Choose download folder - enhancement #128

Using on Linux, and my default downloads folder is not ~/Downloads, but Altus assumes it is. Is it possible to tell Altus where it is, please? (for context menu > Save - I can manually select it every time using Save As...)

For what kinds of message does it show just "Save" for you? It only seems to show "Save Image As..." for me.

Hello Aman -

Thank you for this. If I right-click on an image in a chat, this is the menu I see:

(I hope I have blurred to anonymise, but am not absolutely certain I have done so securely, which is why I haven't posted online)

I can use the 'Save As' option and point to my default folder on each occasion. I would expect the top option to point to my default folder, but it goes to where it expects to find it instead. Many applications allow you to specify the default downloads folder, including browsers. Since I believe altus is built on a browser (insofar as I understand these things - could be wrong) I'm assuming the option to change the download location exists, but don't know how.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Best wishes.

The next release will have two new settings, "Show Save Dialog" and "Default Downloads Directory". The latter will be useful for what you want. However, it won't work with relative paths, you'll have to use absolute paths.

Celtic-Knot commented 3 years ago

Thank you Aman, much appreciated. Absolute paths is fine. I look forward to it.

Best wishes.
