Yaourt has many security issues, but being one of the most well known people keep using it...replacing with an improved AUR helper.

Thanks for the PR, as a non-expert Arch user, I was not aware of the problems with yaourt. Is yay the de-facto standard AUR helper?

There's no de-facto standard AUR helper - in fact the official Arch Linux distro stance is that no AUR helper is supported. Yay is just one of the current good ones. This is a good reference.
