Soft instead of scheduled commits #23

Discussed and we decided to rely on the soft commit feature from Solr 4+ instead.

Not sure how useful to immediate index description is, it already says that it is not recommended for bigger sites. And I currently can't get the solr version easily as it is a protected method.

In my patch to split out the solr functionalities to the solrhelper function we are making the version a public function. Perhaps I need to get that stuff committed before you proceed?

Sure, we can, but as I said, I'm not sure such a method helps much.
