Changes to upgrade to Ionic 3.5/Angular 4 #30

Since anyone who is just now installing the tools will only be able to get the latest versions of Ionic and Angular - I think the base source code offering should be compatible with the tools that are now available.

Hi ProximitorErin- Thank you for taking the time to submit this pull request and test the version upgrades. I'd love to merge this for all to enjoy, but I found for me when testing locally your changes that Ionic loaded a browser tab without error, but ultimately rendered only a blank white tab without content. Could you test again locally to see if there's something else missing needed? I'd then be happy to merge this in.
