will seomeone get epel quickly pleaes? I spent 2 days installing crap on amazons 2023 just to find out that epel doesn't exist. This should have been the first thing you ported over since no one can live without fail2ban, etc tools. Now I'm thinking I need to go jump to ubuntu. This is a disgrace. I'm so disappointed in amazon.

One cannot just "port EPEL" ... EPEL is a repository of unsupported packages ("unsupported" here is important) built specifically for RHEL. While Amazon Linux 2 was strongly derived from CentOS 7 and thus could generally run RHEL 7 binaries (and thus EPEL 7 packages generally worked ... not always but usually), Amazon Linux 2023 is not derived from any RHEL version, and thus EPEL doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Some packages targeted at RHEL 9 (or various versions of Fedora between f34 and f38) may or may not happen to work (again, heed the "unsupported" statement here), but in general, AL2023 is it's own distro and will need packages specifically built for it.

We are working on ingesting some of the packages most requested by our customers, but unfortunately, at this time, there is no "community" repository for packages built for AL2023 similar to EPEL available.

Hello, what would be an alternative to fail2ban or any other countermeasure to brute force attacks?

Building fail2ban from source rpm failed as python3-inotify is not available. I had to build and install it as well. I do not use fail2ban anymore, feel free to test the packages attached. The build was made possible using the SRC package for EL9.
