getting sound from both the computer audio (source) and the armed recording track in ableton at the same time.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.i choose 16ch for input and output and inside ableton i choose 16ch as input 
and my soundcard as output. 
2. when i arm the track it plays the same audio layered over the source audio 
causing a phase effect when i record. 
3.this never happened before... and every now and then audio goes out of sync 
in movies and youtube videos. 

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
soundflower 1.4.4 mac osx 10.6.8

I have no input showing up in either ableton or logic, eventhough soundcard 
shows up..hmm
