Was that discussed after I left? Do you have a preference? Code for Philly gave me a droplet virtiual server where I'm running PostGres and the PostGIS extension for my projects, you're welcome to sharing it.

You can do GIS stuff with MungoDB, although I've never played with it. Outside of ArcGIS, PostGIS seems to be the standard.

Are you still interested in coding it in Python? GeoDjango is really popular for this type GIS of stuff, I've never worked with it but I'm up for playing with it.
