My guess is the opencl compiler is crashing. If it was me, and I wanted to fix/diagnose it, what I would do is:

appendix, fake example of a commented out kernel

kernel void someKernel(float *data) {  // dont comment out the declaration
  // some
  // commented
  // out 
  // stuff
  // ...
}  // dont comment out the closing bracket

Fixed with installing ubuntu instead of mint
