Make the selected canal more prominent on the map -- different color, thicker line #7

It already does get thicker, but for really short canals, that's not very helpful. Maybe we need a really big halo around the canal, in addition to the change in thickness.

Thoughts, @nicolettehayes?

FWIW, a halo would be relatively easy to implement by drawing another stroke of high width and low opacity.
