chrome too many re-directions #119

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago

SONY NSZ-G7 google tv box when accessing ITV player using chrome browser and
clicking on TV program error 310 too many re-directions appears. Tried clearing
cache cookies checking time but problem still persists.

Original issue reported on code.google.com by ianr...@googlemail.com on 28 Dec 2012 at 11:38

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Reproduced the issue on Vizio. Chrome browsers on desktop don't suffer from
this issue though so it could be that Google TV user agent string is causing
this too many redirects.

Sony NSZ-GS7 same problem and with all tv exception being BBC so no access to
ITV player, channel 4 on demand, demand 5 etc. Chrome seems to be buggy and no
access to alternative browsers, as its google tv. Only at the moment it is a
crippled box in the corner unable to do what it was bought for.

Tv apps are incompatible.

Please fix.

I'm able to access https://www.itv.com/itvplayer using my Chrome on Mac. It
seems that if you change your user agent string to

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_8_2) AppleWebKit/537.17 (KHTML, like
Gecko) Chrome/24.0.1309.0 Safari/537.17

you'll get around this problem.

I would like to thank shawns very much for the answer to this problem on the
Sony Google TV set top box - I took the advice and changed the User Agent to

chrome/24.0.1309.0

and the problem appears to be fixed. Thanks very much indeed.

I am suddenly having this problem with www.nhl.com/gamecenterlive for the past
couple of days. I guess I'll have to watch hockey games elsewhere.

I've had this problem with nhl gamecenter live for the past 3days. Vizio
co-star. I'm trying to enter in a custom User agent, and the field won't allow
text input.

Oh my dear God, shawns.. I owe you! I figured out how to get the custom agent
field to accept input by searching for the user agent field and we now can get
into nhl! You are a god!

I'm having this issue as well, I've contacted the NHL GameCentre people, and
they have said it's a Google TV issues. Waiting on their response.

Same problem with NHL Gamecenter started recently. They're lucky that they
don't show the Playoff anyway or I'd be so pissed.

Will try setting the recommended agent when I get home today.

Playoffs are broadcasted. We are watching them via our Vizio Co-Star. Thanks
to shawns. We are now having a new problem with GameCenter in that it's the
only site that we're getting such horrific buffering and 1/2 the time we get an
error for that. Last night it worked well though.

Shawns... is there an alternate string I can use? Or did I make an error in
only typing in 'Chrome/24.0.1309.0' as the poster suggested? Should I have
typed in the entire user agent string?

Setting user agent to
"chrome/24.0.1309.0"
worked for me too.

if you are using chrome browser on your SONY NSZ-G7 select "advanced settings",
then "under the hood" then check custom user agent and type in "android". This
worked for me.
