Plays mp4 file but no sound #171

Model in attached file.

I have tried all different combinations of audio settings and digital audio out
from the Player. It plays but no sound. If it plays for you with the Media
Player, what are the parameter settings you are using?

Thanks,
Tom

So I unplugged it from by TV and Receiver and directly went from Digital Audio
Optical out. It plays the mp4 fine. So there is something with my receiver.
Sony DA5200ES or some combination thereof.

On the Vizio Co-star it does the same thing so the HDMI with the Receiver is
causing some confusion.

So other video/audio formats go through OK on the Receiver. It seems it has
something to do with the mp4 format.

I captured the mp4 using Android on my HTC DNA. Standard API media call.

Steps to reproduce on Vizio Co-star using attached App source and test mp4 file.
(Note: also does it with ES File Explorer Media Player)

1. Power down Co-star.
2. Power up.
3. Try to play mp4 file using "NoSound" App.
4. No sound.
5. Launch Google Play Music and play some music and stop play.
6. Try to play file again with NoSound and it plays with sound.

What is Play Music setting up to allow sound?

For NoSound App Test, need to put the test.mp4 file in external storage base
folder.

When I connect the Co-Star directly to the TV, it plays my mp4 fine without
having to play a song from Play Music. Only when I go through the Receiver
does it have this problem. Devices are:
1. TV: Sony KDL40V2500
2. Receiver: Sony DA5200ES

When going through the Receiver, I hear some clicking sounds when Play Music
starts playing the song, indicating some possibly low-level HDMI switching
going on?
