See the thread elsewhere on this site about changing the "stay within
directory" option. I suggest using "/".

I should clarify more. This is a known bug in SwiFTP that affects Android 2.2
users. It's related to the option that I mentioned above.

Just change /sdcard to /mnt/sdcard.
This is because android 2.2 mounts the sdcard at /mnt/sdcard, with /sdcard a
symbolic link to /mnt/sdcard.
So I think when the user tries to go to /sdcard/X, swiftp thinks that the user
accesses /mnt/sdcard/X which is outside /sdcard.

Thanks for the solution.
Do you plan to implement a A2.1/2.2 check to set proper content for the setup
field, so less people get confused? This needs update ASAP to prevent bad
comments.

Cool, everything works now. Had this issue with CM6 on Milestone running Froyo.
Thanks!

This fixed the problem I was having. I agree with raynerape that there needs to
be a check for people running 2.1 or 2.2; most people won't bother searching
for the error and write it off as a bad app, which isn't the case at all.

similar issue, I could see the root directories/files, but couldn't access
them/write to them, fixed after I changed /sdcard to /mnt/sdcard, this should
probably be auto-done by the program or have a toast saying to change it to
/mnt on android 2.1/2.2
(G2 running 2.2)

I was having nightmares using ES Explorer (when copying over Wifi it deletes
your source files -.-) then tried SwiFTP. At first I got this 550 error (v1.24,
Windows 7 PC, HTC Incredible S, Android 2.3) but after changing to /mnt/sdcard
its working, yes!
Thankyou all.

I'm on Android 2.1, and /mnt/sdard/ doesn't exist. /sdcard/ is an actual
directory.
I fixed it by simply stopping the server, *closing the app*, disconnecting from
wifi, waiting a few seconds, reconnecting wifi, and restarting the server.
It's working now.
If I had to guess, I'd say a bad old connection fouled up something internally
- I'm using lftp, and was hitting Ctrl-C on it a few times ("mirror" started
copying large files I didn't want it to) before this error started appearing.
Resetting everything as described seems to clear whatever it is.
