bricked wont turn on or go into download mode #39

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.install ROM manager on device.
2.update ROM manager while connected to WiFi.
3.device prompts for "backup current ROM" ,i click OK. 

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
i expected the device reboot, instead i saw black screen.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
device: Samsung gt-i5500 galaxy 5. OS: android 2.2 FROYO

Please provide any additional information below.
