If you double click the folder appearing in the playlist on the desktop
interface, VLC then loads all the media content from this folder and only then
VLC remote is able to play these files, too, but that of corse knocks out the
advantage of a remote...

Is this a presentation issue? Do you mean to say that you expect to see the
folder name instead of every file in the folder?

No, quite the opposite.
In my music collection the tracks of an album are in a folder with the name of
that album. So when I want to listen to a whole album I select the folder for
that album in VLC remote. What happens is that VLC remote really adds the
FOLDER to the playlist but NOT THE CONTENT of the folder. Then I see the name
of the folder in my playlist, but a folder naturally is not an audio or video
file so I can't play it.
I would expect that when I add a folder with VLC remote it should add the
CONTENT of the folder to the playlist and not the FOLDER itself.
Sorry if expressed myself ambiguously. Thanks for your answer and please let me
know if you need more information from me.

When I use "Add to playlist" I only see the folder in the playlist at first,
but as soon as it is played it is automatically expanded into individual tracks
by VLC. Selecting "Play" from the same context menu does this all in one step.

Yeah, it works now as I would expect it. The behaviour must have changed after
some update in the meantime, I sewar that it did not work for me before.
Anyways, thanks a lot for the nice app!
