What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Following the wiki guide leaves the phone scanning endlessly for the server
2.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It should work but doesn't connect.

What version of VLC Remote are you using?
0.4.3 (maybe you could add the version under About on the menu screen)

What version of VLC are you using?
1.1.10

What version of Android are you using?
2.3.3

Which Android device are you using?
Samsung Galaxy S

Please provide any additional information below.
rfkhan's comment on the wiki page works for me... Change the vlc shortcut to:

"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" --extraintf http --intf wx

Please check firewalls and that you're connected to the same WiFi network.  Try 
entering IP address manually and see if you can connect from the phone's web 
browser.
