Satisfies feature request #32.

Thanks for the PR but I'm not happy with how it looks. You can re-submit after making it more polished.

I moved the button and turned it into a toggle. The toggle also works on mobile.

Now the theme persists correctly across the rest of the site too, setting it to the user's OS preference on their first visit.
