I'm another with the google voice/gizmo5 problem. Sipdroid registers fine, green
button on n1 shows I'm registered, but am unable to add gizmo number to google
voice.
When I activate link on the 'add phone' page, GV calls, but N1 never rings to
allow
me to input two number activation code. frustrating!!

The last few versions of Sipdroid mute my Galaxy (Android 1.5). Microphone
works,
but I can't hear the person on the other end of the line. Then no sound works
on the
phone. Only reboot solves the problem.
Funny thing: just tested version 1.2.4 and it works perfect. The newest version
(1.4.5) has the same issue described above.

To verify I also tried my connection (Wifi+Gizmo5) over Fring, still no

I am using Samsung Galaxy S, and problem with calling out the other party no
audio after connected. I have solved it by changing the Audio Codecs to ONLY
set PCMA (64kbit), PCMU(64kbit)to Always try and GSM(13kbit)to Only over WLAN.
For infor I am using my home Wifi. these setting works well for both outgoing
and incoming calls. Hope these helps...

I'm using Samsung Galaxy S too in Korea.
I have the same problem that the other end can't hear my voice. This only
happens when I get a call, doesn't happen if I call first(either end hears fine)
I tried what aikido2man said, but it didn't work for me.
I set 'never' to other codecs and PCMA, PCMU to 'Always try' and GSM to 'Only
over WLAN'

I probably have the same issue as # 60 above. On Samsung Galaxy S, calling
using Google Voice -> IpKall -> Gizmo5 -> pbxes -> Sipdroid. Worked fine on HTC
Hero, however on Galaxy S the other party is unable to hear me (sound cutting
out so much that it makes my voice completely indecipherable). Tried several
versions of Sipdroid, including ones confirmed working with exact same settings
on Hero.
However, calling to Skype using Sipdroid with username@skype does in fact work.

Wow, seems like this is prettty common and has been there since day dot.
FWIW I get no voice in each diection on an outbound Sip call over wifi.
Using teh Xlite V2 softphone allows the call with perfect sound.
Sip provider: sipme.com.au
Hardware: Galaxy S
Android: 2.1
Using pbxes allows the voice to trickle through but its too badly distorted to
be understood.
Could one of the developers comment on what other is needed to identify the
issue and provide a generic solution?

I am having same issue as #554:
Outgoing calls ok
Incoming calls: I can't hear other person - other person can't hear me.
Already tried the following:
1) Setup PC SIP-Client with Sipprovider behind router => ok
2) Setup PC SIP-Client with pbxes.org behind router => ok
3) Setup sipdroid with Sipprovider behind router => incoming no audio on both
sides
4) Setup sipdroid with pbxes.org behind router => incoming no audio on both
sides

Hi I am having the same issue as all the above. I can place calls on either
wifi or 3g w/o any problem. Inbound calls on either 3g or wifi ring but after
answer there is no audio either way. Neither party can hear.
I am using

Sipdroid 1.5.5
pbx service is nt.iscom.net(broadworks)

This issue is hardly connected to codecs. Ask your voip provider what codecs
they accept and try to force Sipdroid use the same codec. I had the same
problem but when I changed the provider the problem was solved by him self.
I'm in Brasil and using:
Motorola Milestone, Android 2.1, Sipdroid 1.5.5, provider BlasterPhone, Wifi
and 3G Vivo.

In reviewing this thread there seems to be many cases of the exact issue that I
am seeing which is that outbound calling is fine, but inbound calling does not
have audio either way. I tried to setup pbxs.org account but my provider
requires username, password, authentication name. This does not appear to be
supported by pbxs.org. If this was only a personal account i would not worry
about this, but I am trying to get a decent solution for my corporate hosted
voip pbx. Is there any hope of a resolution? An option for paid support to
resolve the problem? Or maybe something else that I am missing?

OK, on Motorola i1 running Android 1.5, sipdroid 1.5.5, I get no audio(like
phone is muted) originating from phone on any call, I can hear other party fine.
Fix (???) is hit menu as soon as call connects, hit speaker softbutton that
pops up, and it is fixed. An additional speaker icon appears on top of
screen(separate from speakerphone icon) and audio works both ways now. Have to
do this on every call.
That strange additional speaker icon does not appear on any other app and in
not in phone manual??? weird.

still the problem persist and I am on the lastest version of sipdroid. It also
on shows data being uploaded when you look at the task screen bar with 3g as
only the triangle going up is lit up (white) and the triangle going down is

It does the same thing on my desire running froyo, but the problem is caused by

I use to have this problem of the person on the other end not hear me, when i
placed a call through sipdroid, but now the problem has vanished as I use pbxes
as my sip account, now when i call my calls are clear, the other person on the
other end hears me clearly with no lag or echo. I ran several test calls to
cellphones, house phones and sip addresses and they all worked with no lag or
echo, I even had cellphones, house phone and sip phones call my number and it
worked perfectly. I think the reason why I had problems with sipdroid b/4 was
because in sipdroid I used to connect to my sip account at iptel and with that
I used to could never get a good call through as the person on the other end
would always not hear me but once i used pbxes to connect to my iptel account
and have sipdroid just connect to my pbxes now my calls work most of the time
about 90% of the time of course there are still problems with sipdroid but I
think that is the network as I use sipdroid on tmobile HSPA data network (3G)
and it might be due to the ammount of traffic on there network at that time
that i am receiving calls and placing them through sipdroid.

I tried many ways: 3G in differents providers, wifi in differents networks,
android in differents versions and differents smartphones, differents CODECs,
even differents sip clients. Some times they work fine, some times not. And
funny: it starts and stops working randomly.
I guess the problem is in the way the operating system works with the
requirements of VoIP / SIP applications at cell/smartphones.
I'm not sure but I heared that Sip application works fine in another plataforms.

Just got informed of the merge of my issue (768) in here8 I suspect very
different issues though. Clearly some of us have NAT problems which lead to
asymetrical behavior.
Others, a.o. Me, have CODEC compatibility or negociation problems (no voice
either way)
To be specific, my phone works fine with some VoIP providers, and not with a
specific one. The network configuration is the same in all cases.
Also, I can't incriminate that specific provider since it works fine with other
handsets on the same network here. Both SIPdroid and the provider seem OK on
their own, but they don't work together - sort of compatibility problem.
The provider supports G711a/u which are, as far as I know, other words for
PCMA/U .
Thx.

Forcing GSM codec selection from the Sipdroid parameters produces the exact

Looks like the problem comes from the provider, but the same provider works
fine with other client hardware !!

I used to have the same issue with sipdroid and other sip apps: turned out to
be a problem with my network. I managed to get the audio by using openvpn.
Unfortunately openvpn is not well recognized by sipdroid (see defect 368). So
I'm sticking to other apps until defect 368 is solved.

I am having the same issue as comments 79 and 76 above.
Running sipdroid to pbxes on a Nexus S and Android 2.3
The Nexus detects when there is an obstruction in front of it
(face, hand etc) and turns off the screen, presumably to save
battery during a long call.
At the very moment the screen goes off, the audio coming in is
muted. In my case, the microphone is still working and the other
side can still hear me. But the other side cannot hear me.
This is very easy to reproduce.
There is a setting in sipdroid that allows to keep the screen on,
if this is set, the screen will stay on (but will go to lower brightness)
and the audio will not be muted.
So this is a reasonable workaround until the real problem is fixed which
should be pretty easy to do. It is clear that this is a bug and not
intended behavior.
