Thanks. I see this spelled as "Foshalee Lake" without the "r." We also have two birds recorded as being from "F'orshala Plantation, Thomasville, Ga." Presumably these are also likely from Leon County, from the location now referred to as Foshalee Plantation, correct?
Yes, I would imagine so. It has been a long time since I wrote that note in VertNet, but if I recall correctly it was a case in which the plantation (Foshalee) is located just over the state line in Florida. It is possible -- indeed, likely -- that the collector(s) were on some kind of small-scale expedition to longleaf pine plantations, but were based out of Thomasville. I could see where a collection of specimens might be passed on to an institution years later, and during recataloging the curator might see an original tag with "F'orshalee" on it (a strange and unknown name) and simply label those few birds with the locality where the specimens came from. All speculation, though.

Forshala Lake (also spelled "Forshalee") was, in fact, in the Red Hills plantation belt where many specimens were taken in Thomasville, GA and other areas of Thomas, Grady, and Brooks Counties in that state. However, it actually lies about 2.5 miles south of the border, in Leon County, Florida at 30.639095, -84.111996.
