A kind and considerate user of the VertNet portal has notified us that the AMNH Birds collection contains 15 records with events dates from the future. We recommend that you either make room in your collection for these specimens that have yet to arrive OR please check and revise the dates in your local database.

You can take a look at the records in question via this document, AMNH_Birds_Future_Dates.txt

When you've updated the records, let us know and we'll update your data in VertNet and in other portals. Of course, let us know if you have any questions.

Hi David,

A quick check of these records in the live AMNH database reveals that all of them were corrected in 2015 or 2016. This serves as a nice reminder that I really need to refresh our bird data on VertNet. I believe I left it that I was going to assemble a new export based on “organisms” rather than “preparations” in order reduce the number of duplicate records. Soon.

Best, Tom
