iPhone 4 Optimized House Ads (Higher Resolution) #83

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.When using house ads on the iPhone 4, it is clear that it would be necessary
to have a higher resolution version.

As both adWhirl and the iPhone 4 get more popular, AdWhirl will have to support
this anyway, so it's just a matter of time.

Advertisers are starting to notice the problem too – that 320x50 pixel ads
delivered to iPhone 4 look blurry on the retina display, especially in ads with
a lot of graphical text.

Would be great to support 640x100 artwork, be able to upload both resolutions,
and have the appropriate version pushed out to corresponding devices. And also
accommodate a way for delivering the animated GIF counterparts too, since those
are hosted rather than uploaded.

It looks like the iPhone 4 does a terrible job of scaling up a 320x50 banner,
it looks worse than on the iPhone 3G!

As an interim and easy 'fix' could you let us upload 640x100 banners to
AdWhirl.com without scaling them down as part of the upload process. The iPhone
3G/3GS could then scale those images down.

This will save Adwhirl the effort of supporting multiple images per banner.

Or just allow us to specify a custom Image Url?
