Just a little update on this issue.
I'm working on an Icelandic dictionary, and I have it working but the problem
that is stopping me is that the word list is too big, so I'm working on making
it shorter and skipping some of the unnecessary words.
Kajsten I tried to use your word list but it will also be about 500kb too big
after putting it into an XML file and then converting it into a binary
dictionary. If you could shorten it and send me the word list then I can create
a dictionary for your language.
Johcat
If you could supply me with a word list for Norwegian (nynorsk) I should be
able to create a dictionary for you.
And a quick note to trygveaa if he sees this.
I have created a basic project for dictionaries, but I would like to have it
similar to yours with the information dialog at the beginning and the
dictionary logo you have with the flag. If you have a dictionary template that
you can send me that I can use that would be great since that would enable me
to create the requested dictionaries so that they are like yours. Otherwise I
will use my own simple project for these dictionaries.

Wow cool Sverrirfannar. I've just tried it and it works, that wordlist is
updated every 3 month or so. Is it easy to compile it ?
Original comment by kajs...@gmail.com

The format of the files are not the same so it needs to be converted. But that
is the only thing. the compile takes no time.
It's no problem to do this once in a while. But how much does the wordlist
really change in 3 months?
You can send me an email to my username at Gmail.com and I can give you the
details.

Any chance of someone making a german dictionary? :D Is it just about copying
other existing ones, or are there some sort of copyright on them?

If you have a good wordlist for german, then I can easily create a dictionary
for you. I would not know if a worldlist is good since I don't speak german :)
But the list would have to be from the public domain. So you would have to
check if there is any license on the list.

Well, there's always the OpenOffice one. They seem to have various gpl
licenses. I'd probably recommend the

Deutsch (Deutschland - neu + Komposita) .. But it's over 2mb. I don't know
if this is a problem, or if the format is a problem, but you could have a
look at it.

I tried the wordlist you recommended but since it is converted to XML before it
is converted to a binary dictionary it was over 16MB.
So I used another wordlist with 80 thousand words that is 2MB.
Please try it, its on the android market and is called German Dictionary and
has sverrirf as the developer.

Nice! I see how 16Mb is a bit big. Where's this from?
It seems allright as far as i could see just now. Lacks a couple of standard
words like wir, wenn, wer, wre it seemed. Another issue is that some words
end with a slash and uppercase letters. Eg
Wnschen/BDIVXY Cent/S Flughafen/S Haus/Tq
This could be some grammatical stuff, i dunno. Easiest solution seems to be
just regularexpression away all slash and uppercase ends of words.

Wordlists for Norwegian Nynorsk and Bokmål are available under the GPL from
the University of Oslo here:
http://www.edd.uio.no/prosjekt/ordbanken/
Could the Nynorsk one be used for a nynorsk dictionary?
