I can't get procedure pointers on the device to work.

See minimum reproducer in

other_codes/trial_and_error

Any ideas how we need to declare, attach or update them???

Eventually escalate this to nvidia. We need some way to have runtime flexibility, this feature would be the best option.

Possible last resort: write another code generator

retain dynamic access to different model components: this would mean pre-compiling cartesian product of all options
solution should scan for all implementations of different components
possibly use fypp preprocessing language
possibly extend or replace perl preprocessor (desire for only one pp to rule them all)
