Cancellation code or log

It would be helpful if, when a registration is cancelled, a code or log entry could be created that would reflect why the registration was cancelled (e.g., time-out, card charge didn't go through, person clicked "cancel" etc.)

I'd be afraid that this would just pollute the logs. I especially want the logs to track changes in payment or status once a user is registered. There are bound to be numerous cancelled registrations, most of which don't concern organizers.
