Text to speech issues flakey on growl 2x and lion #579

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. use a program that supports growl such as textual irc client and set action
to speech with no default display so growl only does text to speech.
2.
3.

What is the expected output?
the notifications are read out loud in order.

What do you see instead?
notifications repeat, don't completely finish reading, or are skipped
completely.
(happens more as activity increases

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
2.0.1 (latest)

Please provide any additional information below.
I am Legally blind and use growl as a go between apps and the system for those
apps, that don't have built in TTS support. I have a white macbook which can
only run lion as the latest os x upgrade, and therefore can not run ML or
newer, and take advantage of notification center.

I've been reading this ticket over and over and looking for how to reproduce
it, but as of yet I really haven't. How many notes over what time period are
you seeing this scenario?

I think it was a glitch between growl and specific apps such as textual
linkinus, etc, other growl events in other apps work fine. It may have been
how the app itself was passing the notifications to growl, instead of growl
itself.. Mikey implemented direct speech support into textual, which has
avoided this issue.

to answer your question, a way that may reproduce this, is to set a program
such as textual, or linkinus to use growl notifications for all messages such
as channel and private, and set growl to the speech action. If it happens to
you, it should happen under these circumstances.
