Can't slide to answer/hang up often on ICS/Galaxy Nexus #1028

I tried to find this issue before submitting, apologies if it's a duplicate.

I've been having a lot of problems with sipdroid since upgrading my phone for
the Nexus 1 to the Galaxy Nexus.

1. About half the time, I can't swipe to answer or hang up calls. In some
cases, it finally answers, but the screen animation doesn't happen. So I start
talking and it still shows "Slide to answer". In these cases, I can slide down
to hang up, but only because I know to do so from past experience. I've not
been able to find a way to reliably trigger this yet.

2. In some cases, I have trouble sliding up the phone number window. When I do
get it to come up, as soon as I try to press and actual button, the screen goes
blank. I turn the screen on and off and sipdroid's screen is back to the
numbers being retracted. Dragging it back up and trying again to press a number
blanks the screen again. I seem to see this when the signal strength is not the
best, but still adequate for a call.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Get a Galaxy Nexus, try to use Sipdroid. The problems should appear fairly
soon.
2. Test with weak signals over both wifi and 3G/4G/LTE
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Unreliable screen interface. Difficult to answer/hang up calls, difficult to
impossible to use the numerical screen for navigating phone systems.

What version of the product are you using? On what device/operating system?

Galaxy Nexus with Android "Ice Cream Sandwich", all OTA updates applied.

Which SIP server are you using? What happens with PBXes?

Unlimitel.ca

Which type of network are you using?

Problems with both WiFi, 3G and 4G/LTE

Please provide any additional information below.

The non-slide-able problem is not ICS only. I have an LG Optimus 3D running
stock 2.3.5 ROM. The slide to answer/hang up does not work. Out of dozens of
frenzy slides, one may work. The strange thing is, though the slide to hang up
(the big square) does not work, the slide tab for keypad(DTMF) works perfectly
during the call.

I tried Sipdroid 2.4 and the slide works fine. There is no 2.5 to download and
to test. Possibly something was broken when fixing the problem with ICS. I have
seen people complain the same problem with non-ICS phones.

I guess the problem could be that I used a custom kernel which enabled hardware
acceleration.

Telus phones not upgraded yet to ICS.

I have the same problem with my Samsung Galaxy S3 with ICS. When I want to
answer a call, only every other slide across the screen moves the sipdroid box.
But most of the time, it just jumps back to the bottom of the screen and the
call is not answered. I try this again for some time and then the animation
displays that I hung up on the call.

I also have the same problem. Slider is erratic both for answering and ending
calls. Any updates yet? Samsung Galaxy Nexus with sipdroid 2.8

I have this problem too: CM10 on HTC Sensation 4g, fresh install, Sidpdroid 2.8
beta. WHen the phone rings, I frantically slide up multiple time, but each time
it goes back to the bottom. I feel like this may be related to some screen or
power settings, because the screen dims down a little each time a try to slide
up.

What happens to Will also exactly happens to my Samsung S3.

I think that the proximity sensor is activated, the screen is going to sleep
and become disabled and the slide motion is discarded. The proximity sensor is
on the top of my phone, just above the screen. My phone is a HTC Desire C
"golfu".

My workaround is to move the slider only on the bottom half of the screen and
NEVER to be close to the top of my phone.

For the proper fix: The slide should be from left to right, or the animation to
be only on the bottom of the phone, so that the proximity sensor is not tripped
be people moving the hand over the top of the phone. Another fix would be to
disable proximity sensor if all of above is true:
- there is a slide action that can be triggered
- the proximity sensor noticed for 0.5s that it is not triggered (eg, you took
the phone from your pocket)
- you have a slide action in motion, but not yet completed

I have problem with slide card to answer on 2 phones.
A lot of times, when I slide the card up, the card moves up and then drop down
immediately and the call was not answered.

I can not use the "Get-around" mention on issue 996, as there is no three dots
shown anywhere when the phone is ringing.

"When the phone is ringing or in call:
tap the action overflow (three dots) and select answer or end call. End call
may be hidden under more..."

There is no way to reject call either, as the menu is not showing when the
phone is ringing. I can only try to answer the call by slide up the card, or
wait till the ring ends.

As I have no option to reject calls, I try to turn on "automatic answer".
When automatic answer is on, if the call coming in when the screen is off,
then the call will be automatically answered, but immediately hung up.
If the call coming in when the screen is on, the call can be answered
correctly.
But nobody want to keep screen on forever.
And there is another issue from automatic answer.
If the call was forwarded from google voice, then automatic answer will trigger
GV's fast pickup detection, and ask "press 1 to answer this call", and then I
have difficulty to press 1 as it is hard to active the key pad of SipDroid.

Anyway, I do not understand SipDroid uses "slide card" instead "press green
button" to answer the call.
There is no problem for other Sip client with "press green button" , there
should not be a problem with SipDroid to do the same.
