It's important to have UDev rules for the corresponding AES devices, to avoid having to fix them manually as root, i.e:
sudo chmod a+wr /dev/bus/usb/004/002
fprintd works as root, so it's not an issue. It's better to file bugs upstream, i.e. on https://bugs.freedesktop.org
