These kernel modules are pulled from the Linux kernel itself, which is GPLv2.
It being part of a work licensed under GPLv2 changes the reason that a LICENSE file is needed, but actually increases the need. As the source provided by this repo is pulled from software licensed under the GPL it may be a good idea to add a LICENSE file to "... give any other recipients of the Program a copy of this License along with the Program."
So instead of being a 'nice thing to have' it is more of a 'currently in violation of the license that this source was provided under'. I hate licensing as a concept because even the 'best' licenses act as a pair of gilded handcuffs.
It would be nice to help with distro integration.
