google now and the always listening feature of KitCat not working with talkback on nexis5 #338

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Turn on talkback, go to your home screen, try to say "Okay Google" nothing 
happens.  
2. Turn off talkback try it again, google now then starts to listen to you and 
does the tasks you ask it to do when your not touching your nexis5.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I am hoping as a blind person, I can have talkback on, google now listen to me 
and I can text, search the web and etc with google now like a sighted person 
does when talkback is off.  

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? Nexis5, 
4.4.2

Please provide any additional information below.
I am using the latest talkback just posted to the google play store, a nexis5 
and the stock home screen.  When I say "okay google" nothing happens its as if 
google now goes to sleep when talkback is turned off.
