"Error in f(...) : Graphics API version mismatch" error #12

After upgrading R & RTools to 4.2, my Windows machine produces the error "Error in f(...) : Graphics API version mismatch" with ggplot2::ggsave().

According to this SO answer and comment underneath, I may need to reinstall cairo and/or R. Reinstalling ggplot2 didn't work

solved by uninstalling & reinstall R and all of the packages.
