Beware of the Tox Foundation wrong-doings and unethical actions #1

Do you know astonex, the last developer that tried to work on an android client?

Here's what he said upon quitting after more than a year of hard work.

You probably shouldn't use Tox, it's run by Jews.

One of which is arrogant enough to think because he wrote the code that means it's inherently secure

And the other is so incompetent he thinks locking himself out of his own servers is how you do security.

irungentoo said a security audit wasn't needed because he wrote and read the code himself so it is therefore secure. He refuses to write any sort of docs for the core so people can help, despite everyone asking him, and then proceeds to whine about he's the only one who develops for the core.

stq/nikolai manages the servers and he purposely locks himself out of ssh leaving him with no access because that's what he thinks security is. That's why it takes so long to fix anything because he has to reinstall the entire VPS to change anything

Just a couple examples on a long list of their retardedness

@astonex can confirm all that's going on with the Tox Foundation.

Proplex, a long-time contributor, called out tox devs because the 2 people in charge (irungentoo and stqism) were dealing with money in a shady way and he got suspicious. This lead him to leaving the Tox Foundation Proof: https://gist.github.com/irungentoo/5af26f5edefcdb7eac72 or https://archive.today/MajJV

After he went away and stopped to pay for the website and other servers (he hosted everything), Tox devs got angry and tracked his online activity by his browser UA, read his private email sent to his @tox.im address and considered breaking into his VPS account Proof: https://gist.github.com/urras/ba792274f5aaf662a082/5d91d2a780b38e015cd4dc331eb68038f09f5c2f or https://archive.today/KkSWp

Members of the Tox Foundation such as stqism try constantly to sneak in copyright changes in unrelated fixes: Proof: https://github.com/irungentoo/toxcore/pull/1219 and https://github.com/irungentoo/toxcore/pull/1224

irungentoo enforced censorship on his github repo to try to cover everything up Proof: https://github.com/irungentoo/toxcore/issues/1227

After it got out of hand and too many people called out the Tox Foundation, this happened: Proof: http://a.pomf.se/kqwgsg.png

irungentoo claims Tox is secure just because he uses a secure primitive, which is really arrogant and something only a pretentious scumbag would say. This is a crypto 101 mistake. Proof: https://github.com/irungentoo/toxcore/issues/121#issuecomment-35750212

I just want to help, Andre. Don't fall for the trap that is Tox. Beware of the people running the show, they are in for their own profit and ready to destroy employee's lives if necessary (@Proplex, @astonex, @notadecent, etc.)

truth-teller commented 9 years ago

This issue should also the other students, like @uruk

Proplex commented 9 years ago

Can I please just be left alone? I'm tired of being dragged into this stuff.

markwinter commented 9 years ago

Please leave this student alone to do their work @truth-teller. This really doesn't belong here.

urras commented 9 years ago

@andrealmieda If you block people, then they can't open issues or comment on issues in any of your repositories. We've already had to block this user (and their many accounts) on the Toxcore repo.

@truth-teller I'm new here but tox is opensource, so just fork it and manage/ code it appropriately and deliver a truly secure system.
