If you compare to the original Apple Menlo font (I just tested it on my macbook), the situation persists -- so I don't think it's Meslo's fault. I guess the idea is that the letter combinations that you used as examples are very rare, e.g. "mN", "nN" etc. so it doesn't hinder readability in day-to-day usage.
I'm using this font on Windows, Webstorm.
I have the word 'ItemNo' in my code, and the space between 'mN' is... basically not there
