Missing component (WidevineCdm) #54

Dear reader,

This Kodi Netflix Add-on seems to be working nicely (login, getting metadata, browsing etc.) except when it comes down to actually playing the video :-(

When I select a video from a random location it seems to be buffering the video but after a few seconds I get an error message saying something like (original is in dutch):

Something has gone wrong, missing component

A required component to play Netflix content is missing. Go to chrome://components and find "WidevineCdm" and click "search for updates"

Nevermind: going through everything again (to report this issue), I found the problem, or at least a hint (http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=211574&pid=2021315&highlight=WidevineCdm#pid2021315)

Solution: It seems that by default the "Chrome Control Plugin" extension is enabled, but when you don't have this extension installed (like me, I had a fresh install of Chrome especially for this Netflix Add-on) the playback gets broken and a quite misleading error message gets displayed. To fix the problem is simply installed the extension to Chrome (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/netflix-player-controls/najegmllpphoobggcngjhcpknknljhkj/related) Turning it off is also an option (Kodi > NetfliXBMC > advanced settings), but controlling Netflix with a MCE remote was the whole reason why I wanted to install NetfliXBMC ;-)

I really hopes this helps anybody struggling with the same issue, I ended up updating Kodi while strictly this was not necessary (but this was overdue anyway).

P.S. I don't know why the markup is funny, I don't know how to fix it.
