I followed https://github.com/andrewrk/libsoundio/wiki/Compiling-for-Windows and it worked, and my existing system had all the appropriate build tools pre-installed. Prior to this, I was about to give up on libsoundio before trying it, because I couldn't take the suggestion of mxe cross-compilation seriously. It was through sheer luck that I found the Windows build document while looking through the wiki. If a link to this document was added to README.md, just under "Building for Windows", it would be more friendly to new users.
