Out of topic question: silence detection in an audio file #12

I apologize for misusing the facility for issue tracking. I was wondering if you have come across a node module or a command line that can detect the silence gaps in an audio file. I have been searching for a solution for this task without success so far. I will appreciate any directions.

I wonder if this might be a feature that should be added to libgroove. What do you plan to do with the silence data?
