Natural and Landuse Areas with Names #123

Especially when hiking, I'd consider it really helpful to have the names of e.g. screes, woods, meadows show on the map. Written guides quote them a lot to describe the itinerary.

I understand that this might not be trivial. These features sometimes are quite big and could show at a low zoom level, while small ones may only show at higher zoom levels. Font size may be affected by that too.

From overpass queries in a mountainous region, I compiled some tags:keys likely of interest on a hiking map, see below. As mappers are discouraged to create place=locality, where the feature has a basic representation, they seem to follow this advise quite nicely.

Some features already show names, eg. water, perhaps if over a certain absolute size? Smaller ones names might be of interest though, when zoomed close enough, eg. when passing by on a hike, relative size becomes big enough.

Areas (sometimes part of multipolygon relations) found, with names on them:

Perhaps of lower use or also already named:

Digging through the mtiles db I found that the names are all (or almost all at least) in there already.

Attached a patch against current master, that puts names on some areas and ways, that are missing them right now or only at very close zooms. Natural features and some road types too. Herewith put into the public domain.

PS: Cycleways are missing from all but cycle activity maps

Because it is so nice, one more screenshot with natural features, real big ones make it early
