Hiking style is great for the bold rendering of paths. Across bridges though, the difference to activity None gets smaller, and, without a careful look, the path seems interrupted. Below two screenshots:

It would be great if bridges would get the same boost as paths in hiking mode. The bridge over the river is https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/416955635
PS: The valley is not tagged valley, but place=locality - that makes it appear so prominently
