Yep out of nowhere download manager just started downloading maps.
Maybe a manual download option for advanced users might be helpful.
Option to turn off app downloads and suggestions for those who have frugal data access.
V22.05 from frdroid downloaded today So starts and suggests downloading detailed world map 55mb i touch the orange download circle and nothing appears to start downloading. Every time i restart the app i get the same question And i cannot download any map reliability on wifi or on mobile data.
More info. Map sizes are downloaded fine (is that the map index?)and quickly. I am not sure if the app thinks it has downloaded maps or not the tile becomes green, map manager says it's downloading a file. And the download map for this area notice is gone.
Pixel 6 Android 12l S7 lineageos Android 12 Does this use the pain in the ass Android download manager that always had issues or is it directing downloading itself?
Is there a link to manually download these maps? It might be an Android 12 issue as i was able to finally download a map on my s7 with Android 11 (next time i tried it tried it failed however)but I'll bet it's a Android download manager issue (but i know nothing other then it has always given me issues and grief with every device i ever have) I spent about an hour with three devices and was able to get the world map on android 11. Nothing else
On further investigation it appears there is a new map file in android\data\mobi.maptrek\files\native but it is only 100kb and out grows 25kb sometimes i restart the app and click download world map again.
Everything send to work fine on my oldest device running android 6. I'll test an Android 8 device later
After more testing. It seems that the android download manager is choking if it can't get the file right away. I think it goes into a que that is yet to be processed. If i force close your app and download manager and clear cache and data i may get a download if it starts quickly. If it doesn't start quickly i never get the file. But i can get other files if they start quickly. It seems your app marks the files as there (even if they are zero byte files) and never tries again. Which is a good thing since that could create a que for 300 world maps in the android download manager (which i think may have happened after i had tried 20b different maps for download, i quickly force closed everything too save my data)
Anyways don't know how i can help but I'll answer any questions you may have. Your app l like it, might be exactly what I'm looking for to keep track of waypoints on a world (or north America) saying detailed map.
