Media vol - only mute or full #88

Hi. I've tried the cm14, 8 and 9 builds and have the same issue with all of them so it's likely hardware on my end. I'm using an old dell latitude E6520. Notification and ringer volume works perfectly, but for some reason the media volume only has one step, it's either muted or full, nothing in between. When I realised they were all doing the same thing I settled on CM14, I've tried adding ro.config.media_vol_steps=30 to the build.prop but it had no effect. Hoping you can point me in the right direction. Thanks!

I've narrowed this down a bit, it happens only with the HDMI audio out. After tinkering with the audio_policy.conf I think I've figured that the HDMI is using AUX_DIGITAL_OUT. So somewhere there must be a config for digital outputs... I just haven't found it yet.

For such an active project it's a pity nobody seems to monitor issues.
